ACS (Attestation de Conformité Sanitaire) – France

The ACS (Attestation de Conformité Sanitaire) certification is a mandatory requirement in France for all materials and components that come into contact with water intended for human consumption. It guarantees that the products do not release harmful substances into the water and are therefore safe from a health and hygiene perspective.

The standard applies to a wide range of products and materials used in water systems: pipes, valves, pumps, gaskets, coatings, plastics, elastomers, and metals. Each material must be tested and certified according to methodologies established by the French authorities to ensure there is no risk of contamination.

The ACS standards are also linked to other European regulatory references and directives, such as:

European Drinking Water Directive (EU 2020/2184), which establishes common requirements for water quality and the safety of materials in contact with water.
